00:00:00.000okay so today is a very special episode much like those very special episodes
00:00:12.460of 80s sitcoms the very special episode of mr belvedere or growing pains
00:00:30.000I don't remember what they were about, but it was usually teenage pregnancy or LSD, you know,
00:00:43.240those things. This is not about teenage pregnancy or LSD. This episode is actually about New Year's
00:00:49.480resolutions. Now, part of me thinks that New Year's resolutions are bullshit. And the other0.99
00:00:56.920part of me thinks, you know what? It's just nice. It's nice to have a time of year when we can
00:01:04.120renew and revive and just set some goals for ourselves, some nice things to do for us
00:01:13.400in the next year. I don't like New Year's resolutions that are punishment. I don't.
00:01:18.880I don't. I like New Year's resolutions and ideas that will make you just feel better.
00:01:25.260And so I'm going to gather some really smart people, like a lot of people that I love that have been on the show, and ask them about their New Year's resolutions. What are they doing?
00:01:37.560My friends and I actually did a fun thing a few years ago. It was COVID. And so our New Year's party was in the park, in our neighborhood. The adults got all dressed up, the kids ran around, and this took place at 7 o'clock at night.
00:01:54.460we all wrote down one thing we wanted to accomplish in the next year. And then we put it in an envelope
00:02:01.460like a time capsule. And we reread it the following year. It's fun. It's just it's a it's
00:02:08.800a fun thing. I also like making New Year's predictions. So maybe we'll have a few of those
00:02:14.000on here too. So what are my resolutions? I'm gonna I'm gonna be talking about these throughout the
00:02:18.860episode. One of them is to let go of mom guilt and shame. I will not allow myself to be guilted
00:02:25.820or shamed by looking at social media or looking at how other mothers do things, because I have
00:02:33.540to believe in my heart of hearts that I am doing the right things for my kids and my family. And I
00:02:40.700think I just have to accept that. I think there has to be a new level of acceptance. Part of that
00:02:46.160is unfollowing. I talk about this on so many episodes, unfollowing the accounts that don't
00:02:52.320make me feel good. There's an easy way to do that. You just go to the accounts that you're following
00:02:57.540and it's a gut check. It's the initial reaction that you have when you see that account. If it
00:03:03.400gives you a twinge of like, ugh, unfollow. Don't hesitate. You can always follow back. This is
00:03:10.920an irreversible, but just do that scroll. Do it for five minutes while you're like in the bathroom
00:03:17.600pretending to poop in the morning. And I guarantee it will make your feed so much better, so much
00:03:25.160nicer. I'm also vowing, this is another social media thing, I don't want to touch my phone or
00:03:33.480look at my phone until I start my work day. Because my phone involves work. It really does.
00:03:40.920And there's no reason that it should be the first thing that I touch when I wake up in
