00:00:00.000 hey y'all joe here and you are listening to under the influence now i was going to do a
00:00:10.380 different kind of episode today i had a whole other interview planned but frankly i've just
00:00:15.920 been getting so many messages about this and so many responses to my latest sub stack that i
00:00:22.540 decided we just we got to do it we got to do it we got to talk about this weird robert kennedy jr
00:00:29.440 Olivia Nuzzi scandal. We just have to. We do. It's the juiciest thing going. And as luck would
00:00:35.020 have it, I happen to be making another podcast these days with my dear friend Emily Amick of
00:00:39.940 at Emily in your phone. It's called We've Got Issues. It's great. It's much more political
00:00:45.800 than this one. So if you're trying to protect yourself by staying away from too much political
00:00:50.120 news, which is impossible right now, maybe this isn't for you. But if you're a person that likes
00:00:55.740 straight up, no BS talk about what is going on and want some laughs with two hilarious ladies, 1.00
00:01:01.460 We've Got Issues is definitely for you. So Emily and I talked about the RFK scandal
00:01:07.260 on our episode this week. I'm going to put some of that interview in here so you can get a little
00:01:12.220 taste of the show. But one of the real reasons that I want to talk about this on Under the
00:01:18.020 Influence is the whole house inhabit of it all. I think we're going to do a lot more episodes
00:01:24.560 about House Inhabit, about Jessica Reed Krause, because this is an influencer story. This is an
00:01:31.680 insane gonzo bananas influencer story that we need to talk about. And frankly, Jessica Reed Krause
00:01:37.600 has a lot to do with this RFK scandal and weirdly, weirdly enough, with this presidential election. 0.68
00:01:44.520 If you don't know what House Inhabit is, the person behind it is a woman named Jessica Reed
00:01:53.560 Krause, as I just said. And she's a former lifestyle blogger. She was a stay-at-home mom, 0.88
00:02:00.800 an early-ish mom influencer, who rose to fame by essentially recounting and commenting on news
00:02:07.760 stories, very famously the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial. Throughout the trial, Krause would
00:02:14.980 share all of these crazy and salacious stories from all kinds of anonymous sources about Amber
00:02:21.440 Heard's personal life. She was very pro-Johnny in this situation. And this is really the first time
00:02:27.560 that I learned about House In Habit, because as a former celebrity journalist, as a former
00:02:33.840 gossip columnist, I've got thoughts on anonymous sources, and I've got thoughts on gossip
00:02:39.720 on Instagram. One of the things that a lot of people might not realize is that even at the
00:02:47.040 so-called celebrity gossip magazines, and certainly when I was at the New York Daily
00:02:51.080 News, we have an entire team of lawyers vetting everything that we write. We do. We do. And there
00:03:00.900 may be unnamed sources, but my lawyers knew their names. And my concern with the decentralization
00:03:06.420 of media and the decentralization of gossip reporting is that those checks and balances
00:03:12.500 no longer exist. So anyway, house inhabit Jessica Reed Krause. She keeps doing this 1.00
00:03:20.980 with all sorts of other stories, and she begins calling herself a citizen journalist. And suddenly,
00:03:26.920 suddenly, she's covering the 2024 presidential campaigns of Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy.
00:03:34.440 This is now big business. I mean, probably a multi-million dollar business, okay? The Wall
00:03:39.840 Street Journal reported that Jessica's husband, Mike, actually quit his construction job to handle
00:03:44.540 the child care so she could be the breadwinner running this site, running this Instagram account
00:03:49.540 and now a sub stack. The sub stack has more than 300,000 followers. The house inhabit Instagram
00:03:54.600 account has more than 1.2 million followers. Krauss claims that she provides an independent
00:04:00.760 perspective in a news landscape that she says is filled with liberal bias. I would say that it's
00:04:06.100 just filled with all kinds of bias and bullshit, I wouldn't necessarily say that what she's doing 0.99
00:04:12.780 is journalism. This is one of the most interesting influencer stories of modern times. And now we've 0.98
00:04:21.260 got this RFK scandal going on, which I'm going to explain it all to you if you don't know what's
00:04:26.260 happening. We've got this going on. And Jessica Reed Krauss, House and Habit, is a major player
00:04:33.440 in this somehow. So that's why we've got this on Under the Influence today. We're going to get
00:04:38.900 into all of it, and then we'll do a later episode looking at citizen journalism on Instagram and a
00:04:46.000 little bit more of the whole house and habit of it all. If you like what you hear from Emily and I,
00:04:52.660 please follow and subscribe to We've Got Issues wherever you find your podcasts.
00:04:59.260 Smooches!
00:05:03.440 There's so much to talk about with this affair.
00:05:12.020 And it was blowing up my phone all weekend.
00:05:16.220 People had so many questions.
00:05:18.420 And look, one, it's juicy.
00:05:20.900 Okay, like this is juicy and pulpy and it's got all of the things.
00:05:24.520 But two, we're at a really weird moment for journalism.
00:05:29.000 And so this matters.
00:05:30.580 It just does.
00:05:31.480 It's not just gossip.
00:05:32.420 Yeah, we're at a time when people's sort of faith in the political journalism industry is at, I don't know if I would say at all time low, there's no way to quantify that. But like, certainly what is fact and what is fiction and who could be believed is like a barely stable foundation of the information that makes our democracy work.
00:05:53.660 um I also think that the you know the curiosity gap is what often causes people to watch a video
00:06:02.820 for example it's the industry term and uh the word digital affair has I think enlightened
00:06:11.800 many a curiosity gap a the double plan words is hilarious but also like what were these two
00:06:19.740 doing what were they doing that I mean that's and that's what everybody wants to know all right
00:06:24.800 before we get into the what were they doing look can we do the TLDR because some people I've got
00:06:29.840 friends who have tuned out news and like when I brought this up to them they're like what are you
00:06:33.420 talking about I mean god bless you if you have tuned this out um in Jessica Yellen parlance
00:06:38.940 news not noise um so there is a New York magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi who is that how you say
00:06:47.120 i don't actually know how to pronounce her last name i'm pretty sure it's nizzy um yeah who you 1.00
00:06:52.580 know she is a sort of more scandalous reporter than the norm she started out her career as an 1.00
00:07:00.700 anthony wiener uh employee who like left and wrote an expose right like the the start of her her
00:07:08.840 journalism career was political scandal um it was salacious okay it was a little salacious yes
00:07:14.260 and she has really taken on the MAGA beat and the Trump beat in particular but not in an incredibly
00:07:22.760 critical manner right like she has been more willing to romanticize capital R Trump than
00:07:31.020 most other reporters on the beats right now um so she it was revealed that she had a nine-month
00:07:39.040 digital affair with rfk junior they didn't say digital at first there was a there was an
00:07:44.060 inappropriate relationship right what we learned first so like two-ish years ago she did a profile
00:07:49.380 of him which he reportedly did not like um right but i i suspect like trump he's a little bit of
00:07:57.620 the all press is good press type of dude he just like wants any attention so i'm not and then the
00:08:02.140 man the man bragged the man bragged about killing a baby bear right and putting it in central park 0.61
00:08:06.040 so yes no boundaries no fucking boundaries here yeah um he uh so and of course like the background 0.96
00:08:13.960 is also that um this man's during his previous marriage engaged in like an astronomical number 0.99
00:08:21.460 of extramarital affairs which allegedly drove his wife to suicide right like that is the background
00:08:27.200 of this whole thing and i think that a lot of people have been very confused about his
00:08:31.200 relationship with Cheryl Hines due to the fact that she seems normal and he seems profoundly not
00:08:36.200 I mean I think about I weirdly think about it a lot right she seems normal she's part of the
00:08:42.940 Hollywood right and which is not normal so of course she's not normal normal but she doesn't 0.97
00:08:48.320 seem like a wackadoo right and she seems to be she she has like stepped away from a number of
00:08:54.920 his more egregious opinions like on the hall I'm remembering something about the Holocaust 0.58
00:08:59.540 but um she hasn't like been like no he's a nutbag um yeah so so all of that is the background we
00:09:10.260 find out olivia um it's leaked in a newsletter run by oliver darcy right which is a very very
00:09:18.800 interesting way to leak semaphore i don't know if you saw ben smith at semaphore another upstart
00:09:24.040 media newsletter-ish company has said like oh we were scooped we got the tip also but we didn't
00:09:29.520 we didn't react quick enough uh-huh which is fascinating they were like from an anonymous ip
00:09:33.980 in iowa makes you wonder um jessica krauss uh house inhabit uh claims that she thinks olivia
00:09:42.260 did the leak herself which is fast it's a whole other aspect of this story which is fascinating
00:09:46.220 oh wow also the house and habit of all of this is fascinating i mean we should do a whole under
00:09:54.580 the influence episode of on house and how we should do a whole five-part series we should
00:09:59.680 we're fine okay done well let's just do it and let's and let's live stream it okay 0.96
00:10:03.420 let's just do what house and habit does and just talk out of our ass yeah it's true yeah um 0.99
00:10:10.800 with florid pros um florid pros i can be florid uh you actually can i am clinically incapable of 0.99
00:10:20.100 being florid yeah um if anything parsimonious i think um is that the word uh it is so so any
00:10:29.180 who's in wagon we have rfk jr engaged in this quote-unquote uh illicit relationship we learned
00:10:35.640 new york mag is putting olivia on leave um and then like the news just trickles out over the
00:10:43.160 weekend and it's quite a back and forth and this is very much the start of any good brooklyn-based
00:10:48.280 novel where we have a series of unreliable narrators who are all like profoundly self-involved
00:10:52.860 and you don't know what information to trust so like interestingly one tidbit of information that
00:10:58.100 has come out again through jessica kraus house and habit is that um rfk jr claims that he like
00:11:05.600 blocked olivia and then olivia would reach him through other means get him to unblock her
00:11:11.760 because he'd she'd be like i have important tidbits to get you and then send him pornographic
00:11:15.680 images so the allegation is that this is a one-way street of 31 year old 31 year old a 31 year old
00:11:23.340 woman who's engaged by the way she was right engaged to yes politico's ryan liza and i was
00:11:30.840 gonna throw it all away for uh just to send well okay we for we're getting ahead of ourselves again
00:11:38.000 so there's so much there's so much so first we heard inappropriate relationship and then we
00:11:43.400 found out digital affair so then everyone is thinking it's just sexting right just sexting
00:11:50.580 between a 31 i wasn't just thinking that you oh okay well what were you thinking i immediately 0.97
00:11:55.880 thought dick pics i you're i did too i mean yes all right i also thought oh god robert kennedy 0.99
00:12:02.840 dick pics i mean we can just do a meme of my reaction to robert kennedy dick pics 0.99
00:12:09.640 i mean do you remember and again there's the foundation for this is like do you remember 0.98
00:12:14.140 during the campaign he did that like shirtless workout thing in california and it was it was
00:12:20.080 like giving toxic masculinity putin shooting a bear it was giving putin it was giving like
00:12:26.960 virality is the source of quality political candidates right like i like this this sort
00:12:36.000 of tone isn't out of bounds for the campaign this man has run no nor is it out of out out
00:12:42.580 of bounds for really the entire male kennedy family's brand just gonna say that just 0.96
00:12:48.360 okay all right so digital affair we're thinking sexting we're thinking dick pics and then the 0.97
00:12:58.620 news breaks that um this is before before rfk said something else but the news broke that 0.98
00:13:05.280 apparently rfk was bragging about this that's what we heard we heard that he was bragging
00:13:09.980 that olivia sent him tasteful nudes and that's how that's how her bosses at new york magazine found
00:13:16.340 out uh yeah and and did we don't really know the order events right like did new york mag
00:13:25.460 find out before oliver darcy um scooped it um what was happening you know we
00:13:34.060 another component of this is like what does this do for olivia's career
00:13:40.240 yeah we're gonna yeah we know we've got to talk about that we've got to talk about that okay let's
00:13:44.100 take a quick let's take a quick quick break and when when we get back i want to talk about
00:13:49.580 rfk going on the offensive and then what happens to olivia's career
00:13:53.280 all right we are back we're back with the weirdest affair of all time the weirdest
00:14:07.680 political affair of all time it's it's the it's exactly the political affair we deserve
00:14:12.300 in september of 20 you know what i mean like it is yeah yeah it's weird it's unfulfilling
00:14:18.960 it's insufficiently salacious but also exceptionally sad sad that's the thing I think
00:14:25.120 it's sad and I wrote about this on on my newsletter you wrote a great newsletter about
00:14:30.200 this this week on your sub stack which everyone should subscribe to please subscribe please 0.94
00:14:33.820 subscribe just subscribe to all of our things where I just think everyone is kind of an idiot 0.71
00:14:40.580 in this situation everyone everyone made bad choices everyone made bad decisions right yeah 0.95
00:14:47.240 I mean, I think that, you know, the political salience of this is like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wants to be president.
00:14:55.980 And like, this is his decision making capacity.
00:14:58.460 That's the thing.
00:14:59.100 I'm like, why?
00:14:59.960 Like, really?
00:15:01.300 Really?
00:15:02.160 If any of you have ever had imposter syndrome, just realize this man thinks he should be president of the United States.
00:15:07.100 Yeah.
00:15:07.520 No, you should not.
00:15:08.760 Exactly.
00:15:09.260 That should make you feel so good about yourself.
00:15:11.320 Yeah.
00:15:11.620 Like, so, so good.
00:15:13.280 Well, and also, and I think about Olivia, I'm like, you want to be taken seriously as
00:15:19.660 a journalist in a world that is inherently skeptical of journalists right now, regardless
00:15:24.880 of your gender, but it remains particularly hard for women journalists in the world.
00:15:31.900 It just, it still does. 1.00
00:15:32.920 It's hard for women to be at the top of all games because patriarchy. 1.00
00:15:39.120 And, and you do this, this, this is the. 0.98
00:15:43.280 you're gonna die on like yeah i should things were going great for her you know they were they
00:15:49.680 seemed to be going real good for her and um i can't want to just like clarify this isn't 0.97
00:15:56.520 slut shaming this is no you do your your body your choice your body your choice you know what
00:16:02.340 i mean that's not the problem the problem is journalism ethics right and you know so one of 0.85
00:16:10.120 the what is what is left in journalism ethic can we talk about house and habit now yeah yeah well
00:16:15.800 all right let's put all right let's put this on the table let's put it let's put it over there
00:16:18.620 for just one minute okay we're gonna put the olivia rfk thing over there and let's talk about
00:16:24.780 house and habit for a hot minute let's explain again for the listeners i like to assume that
00:16:29.720 that someone may have just emerged like polly shore or was it brendan frazier in that movie
00:16:35.480 where he was like in ice for a long time like explain explain house and habit yeah uh so
00:16:42.340 jessica reid krauss is a she defines herself as an independent journalist a citizen journalist
00:16:49.080 a citizen journalist i i will tell you that in in my my new book that i just wrote i mock the 0.97
00:16:56.000 shit out of citizen journalists oh really oh i do oh i do there's just there's just a nugget 0.98
00:17:01.260 there's just some nugget in there team we got a new joe piazza book coming get fucking ready 0.99
00:17:05.040 it's exciting uh you guys are gonna love it that's all i can tell you right now 0.81
00:17:12.120 we can't say anything else till next week there's a big reveal we cannot say anything else
00:17:16.220 um okay so she rose she was like a mommy blogger um like a classic just run-of-the-mill mommy 0.86
00:17:26.000 blogger very hippy dippy aesthetic california rose to prominence taking the side of abusers in a
00:17:34.120 series of large-scale cases weinstein um epstein britney spears right like johnny depp amber heard
00:17:46.620 that's the one i remember most that was a big one that was a big one i remember that one in epstein
00:17:50.680 that's when she started coming on my radar right i think britney was the first and i think she was
00:17:54.920 pro-Britney um is my recollection but you know she she became and she realized that conspiracy 0.99
00:18:03.300 theories um are really effective means of gaining followings yeah they sure are and um and she's
00:18:11.660 very very talented at like weaving stories and and using the mediums of Instagram and now
00:18:19.020 Substack she's Substack's top culture reporter she's earning like solid coin I think she's
00:18:24.820 earning seven figures at this point from her sub stack alone yeah yeah um you know so all of this 1.00
00:18:29.980 stuff pays and as someone who has been wellness to right wellness to right wing pipeline red
00:18:37.620 pilled she was an early rfk junior supporter because she's anti-vax yeah and she became
00:18:46.900 according to reporting from both wall street journal and semaphore in the spring she was
00:18:51.640 rfk juniors de facto social media director right so she was uh publishing tons and tons of content
00:18:57.840 online as a quote-unquote independent journalist all waltz being totally and she uses this phrase
00:19:02.520 embedded in the campaign that's that's the very specific phrase and and i do think it's really
00:19:08.840 interesting to take a step backwards when you think about like me going to the dnc and me
00:19:13.240 bringing my audience along for the ride and part of that is my d like it's a our parasocial
00:19:18.420 relationship gives them a unique perspective um I do not consider me going to DNC to be an act of
00:19:24.200 journalism right and I think that's interesting right and and I would never call myself a citizen
00:19:31.100 journalist um right who's like you know going gonna go get embedded in the campaign I'm embedded
00:19:38.280 yeah that's what we do with wars i mean i just correct yeah um so she she did rfk jr for a while
00:19:49.700 and then she didn't do she didn't do him well we don't know we don't know we never we don't know
00:19:55.920 no um and then she got started getting into maga and her like the big thing she's done she spends
00:20:02.820 a lot of time at Mar-a-Lago and is often very much just talking about how wonderful it is there
00:20:09.780 and how amazing he is and how, you know, nice everyone is to her. And it's very much adding
00:20:14.000 this personal touch to, um, really horrible set of policies and rhetoric that is an effective
00:20:23.920 marketing tool for Trump's campaign. Um, and she, she really has managed to, she managed to, 0.62
00:20:32.020 to balance the balls of being pro-RFK Jr. and pro-Trump
00:20:35.520 for a long time until he finally endorsed,
00:20:38.540 which was really fascinating.
00:20:41.040 So the Olivia Nuzi intersection is that,
00:20:45.420 so she wrote in like early September,
00:20:48.360 she published a substack profiling Olivia,
00:20:51.520 talking about their two-year-long friendship
00:20:54.440 that they developed, really, really, you know,
00:20:57.740 again, her whole shtick is very much
00:20:59.660 capital R romanticizing things.
00:21:01.520 and very a very very um buttery and uh appealing biography of this woman right just the bees the
00:21:12.500 bees knees it's very long very long sometimes what i don't really understand is like who has time to
00:21:17.960 consume all this content it's just so much content it's so well there's too much content out there
00:21:22.560 we mean we make a lot of it which yeah but i don't think i when i write i don't i'm not writing to
00:21:29.740 the end of the sub stack limit every single day you know you're not no because no one should be
00:21:33.820 reading that you should have you should have other things to do besides read to the end of the
00:21:38.320 limit but also her writing isn't good no can i can i just say that it's just which i look i can
00:21:46.140 we should do a five-part series on this because literary analysis literary literary professor
00:21:53.580 of literary criticism yeah so she writes this long floored profile and then the news breaks 0.99
00:21:59.920 and then she has already come out with a new about face being like i was tricked by olivia
00:22:06.220 number one jessica stands by her man she's full in with rfk jr she takes his side as she has want
00:22:13.700 to do um and so she writes an extreme and honestly it's probably the single most interesting
00:22:21.060 pieces of her writing that i've ever read um i i i haven't read it she's like i don't know how i
00:22:28.160 got led down this path of believing olivia she is a siren who seduced me like she seduces everybody 0.97
00:22:33.700 else like she seduced bobby and she was just using me for access and i can't believe i let 0.93
00:22:41.000 myself fall for this and it's this like extremely lengthy post where she goes into it and then she
00:22:47.800 defends Bobby Kennedy Jr. And thereafter, the New York Post quotes her as if this is fact.
00:22:55.820 And so this, it like, it very much begets this conversation of like, how do we create fact
00:23:00.280 today in the year of our Lord 2024? And that is one of the most interesting aspects of this
00:23:07.040 whole conversation, right? For me, it's the most interesting aspect of this conversation.
00:23:12.200 Because I, as I've been following the story, as I've been following the developments,
00:23:16.980 as someone who has been a journalist for a very long time for more of my life than I haven't been
00:23:22.020 a journalist so many outlets are reporting so many things as facts right now of which are coming from
00:23:29.360 very tenuous sources um and I find it terrifying I find it terrifying for the state of journalism
00:23:37.460 I and and I'm a person who lives inside the world of journalism I mean I dip in I dip out these days
00:23:43.380 But I can't imagine what the average American thinks of any of this.
00:23:50.940 I mean, I see where the distrust of media comes from.
00:23:55.580 I do.
00:23:56.000 Yeah, I totally see where the distrust comes from.
00:23:58.700 You know, but like as a content creator, people want to content immediately.
00:24:02.780 People want the content immediately.
00:24:04.660 Well, and this is this has always been the problem with digital journalism, right?
00:24:07.840 This has been this has been a problem for 20 years.
00:24:09.980 and yet and yet and yet i do feel like sources still used to be better vetted than they are
00:24:17.940 today i mean you can't just have a citizen journalist posting something and then writing
00:24:25.040 it as if it's fact and many many many outlets have and and yeah i mean look you know i uh i
00:24:30.720 went to the post because i figured who the post is exactly who does engages in this bad behavior
00:24:37.600 they are at the forefront of this bad behavior sure and I and I love the post okay like I love
00:24:42.480 the post I wrote for the daily news for a long time like the post and I were like going head
00:24:46.940 to head all the time right um I've got a big appreciation for uh New York City's tabloid
00:24:51.200 journalism but yeah I mean the post the post reported a lot of this but and a lot of other
00:24:56.900 places did too and like you know the fact that Ben Smith at Semaphore immediately posts we were
00:25:01.320 scooped by Oliver Darcy you know we didn't respond to this anonymous thing and it's like you wonder
00:25:06.720 how long people vetted this information how did they confirm the affair to begin with right like
00:25:11.900 fascinating we haven't seen any text messages um you know rfk jr has said he's going to start
00:25:18.740 litigating yes yes that's what i want to get into that's what i want to get into after our next
00:25:23.600 break because what i do want to talk about is like i said i think everyone in this situation
00:25:27.880 made bad decisions um as a journalist olivia nazi clearly made bad decisions that said i do feel
00:25:34.580 like now she is getting thrown under the bus 0.99
00:25:36.640 and like the media's language around her sucks. 0.99
00:25:40.560 And it's language you don't use to talk about a man. 0.94
00:25:44.880 And yes, I want to talk about RFK's next steps.
00:25:47.980 I want to talk about Olivia's next steps
00:25:50.260 and how RFK has gone very much on the offensive
00:25:52.780 and Olivia has not.
00:26:04.580 Okay, we're back. We're back with, like I said, the weirdest, weirdest sex scandal of all time.
00:26:10.500 The latest is that apparently RFK is litigating this.
00:26:15.460 Like he, like, but is this only coming from House and Habit or has the campaign,
00:26:20.420 the defunct campaign actually released a statement saying they're going to litigate?
00:26:24.680 I think this is just from House and Habit.
00:26:26.760 That's the thing. Everyone is reporting this as real.
00:26:29.940 And it's coming from a citizen journalist.
00:26:34.580 right yeah but she's also his she's also his social media manager but does that make her
00:26:39.020 he's de facto spokesperson yeah i you know and i think that like saying you're gonna sue is a
00:26:44.880 classic defense mechanism and the problem with suing someone is then you are in fact in a court
00:26:50.200 of law where facts do reign um so it's not clear to me if well okay uh but um i you know i think
00:27:00.040 that like uh rfk judier to me it seems pretty obvious that like he's not telling the full story
00:27:07.060 oh a hundred percent based off my experience with men in general uh with the men with just in general
00:27:16.480 and more specifically with what we know of his history and the kennedy family and etc etc men
00:27:21.940 behaving badly um the idea that that this man is running for president and is like good faith
00:27:28.240 blocking someone who's sending you pornography and then repeatedly unblocks them to get sent
00:27:33.320 pornography that wouldn't happen that's illogical yeah yeah I mean so much so much about it doesn't
00:27:41.460 make sense if you're actually running for office you don't do any of this right like you no you
00:27:46.300 just don't well yeah but again and you said this to me um when you texted this to me over the
00:27:55.760 weekend and you're like you don't do this i'm like who does this and i was like well men i mean
00:28:00.060 men in power you could say that like a president a president you know john edwards yes a presidential
00:28:08.760 candidate uh whose bus i was on during his campaign uh would know better than to sleep
00:28:15.240 with his videographer um there are you would just generally genuinely i just never understand how
00:28:21.200 do these men have so much time it's always my question so much time there's so much time to
00:28:27.640 have all these affairs i know i know it's just i am tired i'm tired well it's because we're doing
00:28:35.100 all of the labor you know well because women do all of the labor and apparently house and habit
00:28:39.060 does all of the labor she's in bed i mean i will say you got to give it to her that woman works 1.00
00:28:43.200 she really does um so it takes a lot of time to produce all of those all of those inches uh
00:28:50.960 So, you know, you were talking a little bit before the break about how this, there's the
00:28:56.360 media coverage of this event is representing a real gender dichotomy here.
00:29:00.200 Can you get into that a little bit more?
00:29:01.900 Yeah, yeah, absolutely.
00:29:03.460 I mean, I will say even just in the past 24 hours, we're seeing a lot of coverage of
00:29:13.920 Olivia Nizzi as a temptress, as a siren, as just bombarding him with nude photos against his
00:29:23.140 consent. I mean, they're playing the, you know, the RFK side here is playing the consent card.
00:29:32.480 I mean, it's a real offensive that the media picks up because the media loves stereotypes
00:29:39.340 about women as seductresses.
00:29:42.380 And, you know, I think back so often
00:29:44.780 because I covered Brad Pitt
00:29:47.060 and Angelina Jolie hooking up,
00:29:50.560 which did, you know, end Brad Pitt's 0.98
00:29:53.160 marriage to America's sweetheart,
00:29:54.980 Jennifer Aniston.
00:29:56.180 And the coverage was constantly 1.00
00:29:58.600 Angelina Jolie as the aggressor, 1.00
00:30:01.380 Angelina Jolie as the seductress, 1.00
00:30:03.400 as the temptress, you know,
00:30:05.040 as, you know, a witch that seduced him
00:30:08.900 away from from America's sweetheart when we know that, you know, their marriage really just fizzled
00:30:13.860 and ended and it takes two to end the marriage. And, you know, there was nothing about Angelina
00:30:20.020 Jolie except, you know, for the fact that she is an exceptional, exceptional woman that, you know,
00:30:24.780 made her the one to end this marriage. So the media just loves, loves, loves to create a villain 0.72
00:30:30.440 out of a beautiful young woman instead of a horny old man. For some reason, we like never throw a
00:30:38.300 horny old man under the bus it's the same with monica lowinski who got the worst end of that
00:30:42.880 media treatment monica or bill yeah bill's just at the dnc i think he's doing fine um and monica 0.98
00:30:49.360 and monica's doing great right now she's doing amazing but she got treated like shit yeah she 0.95
00:30:55.680 did it is it is the old you know eve of it all um and uh you know one of the things that always 0.93
00:31:06.840 get sort of bandied about after these types of things eventually at the end in the post-mortem
00:31:11.820 that we're doing as a society is like you know if this isn't about Olivia hearing this it's about
00:31:16.460 your daughters hearing you how you talk about Olivia type of thing right but I you know I very
00:31:21.360 much do think that um when I have been talking about it I have been trying to focus on RFK Jr
00:31:29.420 because or the media analysis aspect because I do think that like we we all sort of got
00:31:38.620 screamed at for a year about taking RFK Jr.'s presidential run more seriously we were all
00:31:45.660 like very much like belittled for being like this is not serious he's obviously running a spoiler
00:31:49.800 campaign like this man has no interest or capability of being president and like I just
00:31:54.920 like a never ending splooge of third party nutbags in my dms telling me that like how rude and like
00:32:03.300 you don't care and i'd be like well i'm just the math's not mathing here um and i think for me
00:32:07.920 this is just like proof positive right like this man was never serious about running for president
00:32:11.880 um he was this is a vanity exercise i will say he was just um he's not stopping right like he
00:32:19.600 no he's trying actively trying to get on the new york ballot actively at the supreme court trying
00:32:25.100 to get on this on the new york ballot to act as a spoiler his lawyer is a trump lawyer right like
00:32:31.300 there's not um he was on stage i think last week talking about how trump has told him he's going
00:32:36.880 to get to be in charge of all of the political appointments at hhs you know fda like he is going
00:32:43.140 to be the one deciding who gets placed where you know like it's not as if you know he is
00:32:50.640 rfk jr is now embedded in the trump campaign right rfk jr is now embedded in the trump campaign a
00:32:57.860 hundred percent like that and and he you know it's sort of like funny to mock and make fun of him 0.95
00:33:05.600 because he does things like have a worm in his brain and and kill a baby bear and the baby bear
00:33:10.860 the baby bear let's never never never forget the whale um so many weird weird things but but also 0.99
00:33:20.020 like if that man is in charge of the fda we have some big fucking problems on our hands right 0.96
00:33:24.160 no shit he won't help out to have like real opinions on real issues that could affect all 0.99
00:33:31.300 of us and so then and then we're sort of like brought back down to like oh wait this is serious 0.99
00:33:35.600 yes yes exactly exactly um i mean he's just to me for so many reasons he is a massive wackadoo
00:33:43.720 and my dms will be open if you want to attack me for it go ahead um but i'd say please leave a
00:33:52.060 comment on our youtube attacking us i was please leave a comment please share yeah please share
00:33:56.700 this episode with all of your wackadoo friends they can just go leave those comments give us
00:34:01.320 the engagement. Leave those comments and order my new book. Um, yes, but I, we, we, we weren't
00:34:07.560 going to do, um, listener questions, but we're 29 minutes. We're running short on time. So why
00:34:14.060 don't we just do a plea for listener questions? Yeah. We want to hear from you and we want to
00:34:18.560 answer, answer, answer your questions. We want to know what you want to know about. And a great one
00:34:23.820 that we've gotten so far that I get asked at almost every event that I do is like, how do you
00:34:28.160 juggle it all? How do you do all of the things that you do? And I think that's really important
00:34:32.420 because as women, you know, we're often caregivers for both children and families and puppies and
00:34:38.800 all of the things. And it is a lot. And I think that hearing how other women do it is so, so
00:34:44.860 important. That's one I like, but send us questions, slide into our DMs with, with whatever 1.00
00:34:50.700 you want to know, ask us anything. We're, we're open books, probably to a fault. I mean, my agents
00:34:54.880 fucking hate it um yeah they do they do and you know we were talking about quickly what we think 0.97
00:35:01.840 will happen to olivia nosy i don't like the fact that a lot of outlets are now dredging up her 0.98
00:35:06.620 whole relationship history they're like she dated keith olbermann who didn't okay everyone i know
00:35:12.480 dated keith olbermann i have heard that actually literally everyone i know made out with keith
00:35:19.960 Olbermann at some point. So like that has no bearing on this story. That is slut shaming,
00:35:24.520 frankly. Yeah. I, you know, what I hope is that Olivia doesn't fall into right wing 0.85
00:35:31.220 propaganda, right? Like one of the cycles we have seen repeatedly is when people, and this is not
00:35:38.880 her situation, but like when people get canceled, for example, right. Or like people who behave
00:35:42.480 badly, who have no other alternative means for making money, they realize like they can engage
00:35:47.760 in the right wing grift and it is a very very effective way to make money right and i am i am
00:35:52.480 sure there's a bunch of outlets you know like the bright parts of the world who are trying to scoop
00:35:58.680 her up right now yep um and she is like she she she is a good writer right like she does her
00:36:06.020 profiles are great yeah and like she does really good work and i hope you know if i i hope she
00:36:12.960 lives her dreams whatever those dreams are and um and i hope that she finds happiness not at the
00:36:19.520 bottom of a sext to rfk jr it's a really nice way to drop the mic and end this episode emily yeah
