00:00:46.640it's a double party we're celebrating obviously this longest day shortest night
00:00:54.080of our year, the summer solstice, Letha, as some of us refer to it. And we are also having an early
00:01:02.760birthday party for the Missing Witches deck of oracles, which is coming out on July 9th.
00:01:10.500It was something that was always in the back of our heads, and it's really amazing to be able to
00:01:15.800hold it in our hands now, to take it out of our heads and put it into our hands. And I wish Risa
00:01:23.380was here because she she she got a copy of the deck and pulled a card and it was the most perfect
00:01:31.220card that could possibly have been pulled the same goes for me i was looking for a bit of advice
00:01:36.960and i just got the word that i needed to hear in that moment so i hope this deck works for y'all
00:01:42.440too um we have invited two of our favorite cartomancers to join us and talk about cards
00:01:51.680and why cards and what cards and how cards so i want to give a big warm missing witches summer0.98
00:01:59.600solstice heat wave sweaty huggy kissy welcome to sonia fernandez leblanc who is a medicinal
00:02:10.920storyteller a contemplative futurist an esoteric interfaith scholar at the intersection of personal
00:02:21.100sovereignty and community care and if that's not enough a contributor to the new book
00:02:29.340dreaming with bees hi sonia hey thank you for having me thank you and to be here
00:02:37.140always a pleasure to see your angel face and also our very very good friend zoe flowers mystic poet
00:02:47.660teacher candle maker tarot reader and an author the author of two books from ashes to angels dust
00:02:55.780and in praise of the witch thank you so much zoe for being here with me tonight thank you thank you
00:03:04.320for having me i'm so excited i'm so excited i'm excited too because again you two are i think of
00:03:13.800you both as as cartomancers you know in the truest sense of the the word and i i want to talk to you
00:03:21.800about again the who what why where when and hows of using cards as divination tools or or whatever
00:03:28.040tools you use them as but first i'm hoping that you can expand on my introduction of you
00:03:36.160let's start with sonia who are you today who are you on the summer solstice of 2024
00:03:42.100four uh oh yeah I'm gonna take a breath about it because um I am really like abundant and expansive
00:03:55.280and I that is never something I say I am I am not familiar with the way I feel right now um
00:04:06.040And so I am just like kind of patting myself on the back because I'm like, listen, I have these spiritual practices that I've been putting in to my life for the past few years and staying true to them like long game in it.
00:04:23.560And I feel like finally, it's all like, it's paying off in a way that my mental health is feeling like a little bit of a, oh, yeah, you're okay. Everything's going to be okay, even though it's all burning. I'm okay. And so that is so strange for me at this moment.
00:04:49.280And so I'm just like, like loving the light and just sitting and staring out into space a lot and just being in contemplation about all of it. And so I don't know, like, I don't even know who I am right now, but I'm like, let's keep it up because we're at the top of the wave and you know, it's going, you know, it's going to crash. So when it does, I have all my tools. I've got all my tools.
00:05:16.480so yeah all your tools all your tools to rebuild when it when it comes crashing
00:05:21.260again but i'm so happy that you're on a high right now while the sun is also on a high
00:05:26.560with us zoe who are you today right now in this summer solstice moment of being who is zoe flowers
00:06:37.900but I feel you I mean you know that I have experience with this too and that when that
00:06:45.760card reverses and you become the parent to your parent yes it's it's exhausting of course you
00:06:53.260know like the practical aspect of going to doctor's appointments like cleaning up the1.00
00:06:59.480bathroom whatever it might be but it's also a mind fuck yes it is also an absolute mind fuck0.99
00:07:05.560to be the parent to your parents so godspeed you both on your roller coasters right now but we have1.00
00:07:15.140tools we have tools and we have a coven that's right so I'm gonna stick with you Zoe and I want
00:07:22.780to know like why cards how did you become drawn to cards as a tool that you use um if you want
00:07:32.320to start with like your first deck or your last deck or just whatever spirit was it that that
00:07:37.880drew you into cartomancy I wish I knew I mean I feel like you know I would say in the spiritual
00:07:46.800aspect the astrology I always thought was my thing like a I was always into that my first deck
00:07:53.640was the Aquarian Tarot um I bought it in a little store in Florida not Panama um like Destin
00:08:02.920Destin Florida I wandered into a little witchy store and I saw this very unusual deck um I don't
00:08:09.340know why it called to me and I just started working with it I didn't really know what I was
00:08:14.880doing. And then I got, so I guess my real first deck, it was a IFA-inspired Afro-Brazilian
00:08:27.280Tarot deck. And I got it probably my second or third year living in New York City.
00:08:34.860And it's just my intuition, everything, because it's such an obscure deck that it just forced
00:08:43.000my intuition to just like get bigger and um so before that I never really played with tarot
00:08:50.720I may have had a few affirmation decks but um once I got that Afro-Brazilian deck if something just
00:09:00.620something just like clicked for me and and then I started acquiring oracle decks and I was like
00:09:08.820oh these are more directional and there's such a variety and they can kind of tell me what to do
00:09:16.120and then I got my Reiki 2 and Reiki 2 makes you more psychic so it's like once I got my Reiki 2
00:09:23.560my tarot reading just became a part of my healing work I was doing body scans on people and I would
00:09:32.440pull a card for them and I just incorporated it into my Reiki work and then the next thing you
00:09:37.740know it's like my Reiki kind of not got put to the side but I wasn't doing it as much and then
00:09:43.520all of a sudden I was just doing cards cards cards cards cards all the time and so yeah it
00:09:49.660just started with that very obscure deck it was very organic I love that it was an Aoife deck which
00:09:56.980you know Aoife has many many tools of divination but like you know this is a a crossover that that
00:10:04.660I love to see do you find that you work more with like tarot proper or that you're just like
00:10:11.280a pansexual cartomancer I am definitely a pansexual cartomancer um I I I probably have
00:10:21.600more oracle decks because there are so many different kinds um because I do herbal readings
00:10:28.260and animal readings and so and crystal readings and so these oracle cards allow me to give
00:10:35.560a more expansive reading um with my tarot cards I don't have as many you know I've got 150 decks
00:10:43.440at this point it's it's it's yes and um I started to sell some last year I've only sold about 13
00:10:54.340And then I bought like five more. So it's like, I mean, I have a million decks right here. So,
00:11:00.400so there's so many different beautiful Oracle decks out there. Um, and I like to tell, um,
00:11:09.320do readings in stories. So I like decks that are familiar and I, and I read by the seasons,
00:11:17.000right so now we're in gemini season and so i am using my sort of gemini season cards and so i like
00:11:26.760for my tarot decks to be ethereal and i like to go by colors and i have like tarot and oracle families
00:11:34.620that i like to read in i love that you have a seasonal wardrobe that's because i got so many
00:11:41.600decks i was like having all these freaking decks so it's like okay if i if i change them by zodiac
00:11:51.320season then i'll get to i'll have more of a chance to use them all i mean there's some that i just
00:11:56.460don't pull that often from but yeah you're brilliant that's a that's a brilliant rationalization i'm
00:12:02.780proud of you for coming up with it i receive it how about sonia i same question how cards why cards
00:12:13.040when cards yeah what cards it's wild okay so i'm a storyteller so um the so i'll go back i'm gonna
00:12:22.200go back in history to the turn of the millennium you know y'all remember that long ago feels like
00:12:29.040it wasn't that long ago but I keep getting Instagram posts that said that it was a long
00:12:33.380time ago so I have to go with that but I had a dear friend she was one of my best friends from
00:12:38.200high school and she was like just yoga and like she was an artist and she was like this and I was
00:12:48.280like I'm gonna be successful I'm in the music business and I don't have time for anybody's0.72
00:12:53.240bullshit and I was like deep in my like toxic masculine energy um uh time and she for my
00:13:02.660birthday my birthday is June 2nd so I'm like I guess that's probably why I'm so good right now0.98
00:13:07.460because like I'm in my like yummy my yummy Gemini time she got me this deck and I was like oh that's
00:13:16.220cute Meg like she went to like the little goddess in the moon witchy store in Nashville Tennessee
00:13:21.120and I was like a recovering Catholic that was like you know I didn't have time like the only
00:13:27.760cards I had were all the little cards did the same you know you get from your first communion
00:13:34.020and stuff like all the prayer cards the prayer cards like when somebody died you get like the
00:13:40.340Hail Mary okay so that's all I had and I would like stick them in books and then I'd come upon
00:13:45.960them so she got me this deck and I had this um theology section of my of my books collection I
00:13:54.940am a book I collect books I read books but I love to collect um uh all kinds of spirituality across
00:14:04.540like comparative religions and I had like the history of hell and I had like this little section
00:14:09.320like the towel of poo and so she gave me this deck and I was like thank you and I put it as
00:14:14.900like a display with all of those, like my old catechism book from high school. And I traveled,
00:14:21.460I lived in all over Nashville, Baltimore, back to Nashville, just kept this little deck of cards,
00:14:29.620never opened it, not even one time, kept it with me all. And then I had a nervous breakdown. And
00:14:34.880then I was in this, like, I had babies and I was in postpartum and I went through this decade long,
00:14:41.620like healing and in 2018 um I well in 2017 I started doing this women's circle and they were
00:14:51.380using cards and I was like but they were the oracles and so I was like oh those are cool but
00:14:57.340I don't know I'm not really into I don't I don't know anything about that and then I started
00:15:03.040reading Adrienne Marie Brown and I started following her in 2018 on Instagram and she did
00:15:11.580this daily card pull and she just started pulling it and saying I do this for my mental health
00:15:18.540and I'm gonna pull a card every day and I was like that and then she made this recommendation
00:15:24.720of Little Red Tarot and she said if you go to Little Red Tarot and buy your tarot deck0.99
00:15:30.640you're gonna get it they they are queer and indigenous and uh by poc like all of it like0.77
00:15:39.060they this little red tarot they do everything and they also have all these articles and stuff and0.85
00:15:45.700this was back when little red tarot was an actual like a whole deal like they there were different
00:15:50.760writers that were on there it was a whole blog and so I started studying I started going to
00:15:57.340little bit of tarot and like reading through and I got that deck out and I started going through it
00:16:02.980and it did not have the traditional like cups and it had weird it was weird and so I thought it was
00:16:11.600an oracle deck and so for like months I was pulling cards thinking it was an oracle deck but also
00:16:17.220studying these tarot like messages and then I went and got what I thought was my first deck
00:16:24.540which was Terra del Fuego um and then I started like comparing them like I'd pull a and I don't
00:16:33.580even remember what it was called it was super and it also I feel like it was really inappropriate
00:16:37.740and gross kind of like the mother what's the circular one that has like lots of problems
00:16:45.200anyway I feel like this deck was problematic it was from the early 2000s I don't think about it
00:16:50.300but as i pulled it i was like this feels gross and also i love tarot del fuego and i'm pulling
00:16:58.520them and i'm reading and then i started understanding the deck like tarot cards and
00:17:04.460then when i would pull one from this other deck that i thought was oracle it the messages kind
00:17:08.960of were like oh here a fan and this is this ancient dude in this one oh my god this is a
00:17:16.060tarot deck. Okay. So that was 2018. And so then I got myself together and I started deeply studying.
00:17:23.120I studied through Lindsay Mack and I studied and I did it specifically for my mental health,
00:17:29.680but also it was so fun to just like be in community with people who also were interested.
00:17:36.080And so we were like pulling them and trying to learn. And I was learning the archetypes
00:17:40.420and I was learning the stories behind the different decks. And I was like, this is like
00:17:45.800a storybook like these and then I started like understanding that like the major arcana is a
00:17:52.360storyline and over the years I learned the tarot by giving readings for free and then writing
00:18:03.880because I'm a writer and a storyteller and writing people's like what I felt that and I would and I
00:18:11.800began this process of calling in because I'm very connected to my ancestors but I also have this
00:18:17.320ability to like tap in and create this circle within like we I bring in our pantheon and so I
00:18:24.260would just be like okay we're gonna pull these cards and like let's just see and I I was very
00:18:30.000much uh uh connected to this idea of the cards are giving the message and the message is not
00:18:39.720predictive like this is not fortune telling this is just like how to support your energy right now
00:18:45.340and how can you have energy being pulled and so I just started playing with that and over the course
00:18:53.140of I'd say from 2019 to 2021 I wrote out I made a book of these interpretations and then I connected
00:19:02.680in the way that Kim Kranz does with her archetype deck um where she does this like extra like she
00:19:10.640does this little thing at the bottom that's like go further right and so I I really loved that and
00:19:17.880because I'm such a voracious reader and resource like that's just who I am yes ma'am that's it
00:19:25.600archetype um I started doing this for those of you who are listening Zoe just held up exactly what
00:19:31.640Sonia was talking about so we're all connected yes um and I was like I want to do that so
00:19:38.860I began this process of like connecting and using I don't know just going with my intuition like my
00:19:47.560ace of wands for example the artist way by Julia Cameron like connects to the ace of wands like I
00:19:53.660you know and and um Octavia Butler and the parable of the sower is two of wands so I would do this
00:19:59.480like little extras so i'm gonna pull your card but then i'm gonna give you even more to go and
00:20:06.660study so if you're in a if you're in two of wands energy right now this brit you know i consider it
00:20:12.120like a bridge generation card go read octavia butler everybody should be written at heavy
00:20:16.960butler anyway because she's well we'll get to that with your deck um she's in there she's0.65
00:20:24.760She prophesies. She is telling us what we're coming into. But anyway, so I just kept playing
00:20:33.520with it. And now I realize that all of those free things that I did and all of this book I created
00:20:41.300with these interpretations that I gave to other people, my past self created that so that my
00:20:51.000present self can pull that energy and I can receive the messages from myself that I need
00:20:58.340to focus in and get that groundedness that I didn't have before but it took the study of the
00:21:07.260tarot to get me to in 2024 take this these messages and like it just centers and I was like
00:21:18.480oh, that's the whole point. That's the whole reason why I do it. So I don't even do that
00:21:21.600much reading for people anymore. Now I just kind of pull a card a day and go read what I wrote for
00:21:27.740myself as a way of like my own Bible, right? My Bible to myself. And then if people, you know,
00:21:34.960I'm a projector in human design. So if you invite me to read for you, then I'll do it. But I don't
00:21:40.640like, I'm not like, I'm not promoting myself in that way, just because that's not the way my
00:21:46.240energy is and now but it's ah but like this book and the way that I read it and study it and the
00:21:52.240way that I use it as like a phenology program for myself like like on the wheel of the year
00:21:59.100it just has been so supportive for me and so I love it it's like my my most grounded practice
00:22:05.920that I do yeah a lot of people you know talk about fortune telling and divination but a lot
00:22:13.640of people especially nowadays the modern witch really talks about using cards as like like you
00:22:20.880say to support our mental health to support our questioning our intuition our ideas um i pulled
00:22:29.340out the octavia butler card for those of you who are listening to the podcast i will put this card
00:22:34.320in the show notes so that you can see it too so that you won't be left out i will say sonia
00:22:40.000and zoe both have advanced copies of the deck um so maybe they will pull one of the cards from
00:22:49.500the missing witches deck of oracles for you tonight i do want to um ask the coven if you
00:22:56.580do have a question and would like the three of us or one of us specifically it's fine um to
00:23:03.040pull a card for you and try to give you some insight i see a hand already and um before you
00:23:11.640on mike killian i want to know zoe sonia we've all heard this sort of mythology that your first
00:23:18.920deck has to be gifted to you or somehow it doesn't count now zoe you acquired your first deck by
00:23:29.160yourself Sonia your first deck was a gift that was given to you how do you feel about this rule
00:23:34.520I mean I don't feel a way about it I've had students ask me about it and I was like well
00:23:44.980I I bought mine I mean they they also say like I'm a Libra I'm not supposed to buy my own
00:23:49.940opal jewelry but I did so now what0.99
00:23:54.960what do you think sonia i don't know i think i think you should do whatever the fuck you want0.99
00:24:04.160to do i don't think it i think anybody trying to like put restrictions or rules on shit like that0.98
00:24:12.320like i just want to i i come from the south so bless their heart they're they're they're0.80
00:24:18.220work and do something and there's some control and i just say release the control and go do0.95
00:24:25.120whatever the fuck you want and acquire it or don't or wait for it to be gifted but if you0.63
00:24:29.480really want to do something and you want to play with tarot go go get yourself a tarot deck0.98
00:24:35.120rachel in the chat says if you get it for your if you get yourself a deck it is a gift from you
00:24:41.920to you so if you love rules i don't know who's listening to this podcast thinks of themselves
00:24:49.160as a witch and really loves to follow rules but if you are one of those people i'm sure you exist
00:24:54.980then yeah you can gift yourself treat yourself killian what's your question for the cards
00:25:01.800hi so i have an interview tomorrow for a new job so i just want to have any messages about that
00:25:15.080process i love it let's see please and thank you of course i'm gonna shuffle a bit zoe sonia you're
00:25:28.000Welcome to whatever deck you're drawn to.
00:25:30.440I'm using the Missing Witches deck of oracles, of course.
00:25:33.800But if you're drawn to pull from something else for Killian,
00:25:36.540I totally, totally, totally am behind you on that choice and decision.
00:25:43.760And well, Killian, for you, we pulled Monica Show.
00:25:49.120And I will also, every card that we pull tonight,
00:25:51.760I will put to the side so that those of you who are listening at home
00:25:54.720after the fact can also get a sense.0.99
00:25:58.000You probably know who Monica show is just an absolute fucking badass, but I'll, I'll be specific about what the card says for now. The word that we have associated with Monica show is resolve. And the back of the card, again, for those of you who can't see me, the front has an illustration, the name of the witch and a word that we've chosen that associates with that person.0.82
00:26:20.920then the back of the card like Sonia was talking about prayer cards you know it's a description of
00:26:25.600that person and then a prompt at the bottom of the back of the card or the front you get to choose
00:26:30.520which are the fronts and which are the back it's magic I'm just going to read you the card Killian
00:26:34.660and I'll let you interpret one of the last great religious painters in western art Monica made0.98
00:26:41.960revolutionary art and wrote revolutionary books she wove together queer and feminist activism1.00
00:26:49.060art, and witchcraft. She was a loving mother who watched her two children die, one in a violent
00:26:57.680accident and the other after being preyed on by high-control manifestations of the new age.
00:27:04.080She was determined to paint and write and act for the complete dismantling of patriarchy.
00:27:13.400she painted women in the moonlight together in the lunar mind she sang the burning times
00:27:19.400on the altar of bristol cathedral holding her painting of a goddess giving back
00:27:26.100giving birth to the world she was heartbroken and fierce and danced and sang
00:27:34.540she is with you now asking you to root your resolve in the earth
00:27:43.120Now, Killian, I don't know what this job interview is that you have coming up.0.99
00:27:48.440If you can find resolution being rooted, being a fucking revolutionary, fucking smashing the patriarchy.0.98
00:27:59.460um but i will tell you for sure that whatever you're up against monica show is telling you0.99
00:28:08.260that you have the strength of the whole earth under your feet she was a very um like feminist0.86
00:28:16.460and revolutionary but very earth-based very eco-conscious and she also was not afraid to
00:28:22.540upend the notions of the new age she wrote a book called new age armageddon she was not going to be
00:28:29.380told what to believe ever whether it was from a patriarchal preacher or from the new age movement
00:28:38.040she saw what she knew was right and knew was wrong and she operated thusly hopefully monica show has
00:28:46.180something to inspire you with this upcoming opportunity and maybe sonia or zoe wants to
00:28:53.900pull another card for you? Yeah, I was desperately looking for my Black Moon Lilith deck cards,
00:29:02.400but I can't find them. They're probably on my bed. So I did an Oracle and a Tarot for you. So I
00:29:08.920pulled one from the Sacred Symbols Oracle deck and we got lucky. I mean, hello, we love that.
00:29:15.420For things like this, I like to offer mindset. So this is more like what would be a beneficial
00:29:23.120mindset as you prepare, as you go into this tomorrow. And then, and then we got the sun.
00:29:29.900Oh my God. So, so yeah. And, and so this is the mindset. This is the approach. Maybe you might
00:29:39.980even want to incorporate some of these colors in some way as you go to this interview tomorrow,
00:29:46.300this green, this bright yellow, this red for passion. So yeah, I would just say, keep your
00:29:50.920mind on what you're passionate about that you're lucky that everything goes in your favor maybe
00:29:55.980doing some cute affirmations on the way there um especially if you start to feel any fear
00:30:01.100anything rising up just think about this sun card and the horseshoe
00:30:04.480sonia i see you shuffling yeah i've got a link shuffle and shuffle
00:30:13.180i have a couple so i so i like to pull pairs um for most of my things and i always pull a major
00:30:23.460and then a minor arcana that kind of support it's like a support card so the the card that i pulled
00:30:31.120the major that i've pulled for you was a reverse empress oh and this is the y'all arrow cats by
00:30:38.360Anna Juan. She's one of my favorite illustrators of all time. And when she had a deck come out,
00:30:46.080I was like, look at that. Look at that Empress cat. Are you fucking kidding me? So Empress is0.99
00:30:53.820radical receiving, right? So it's that oxygen mask. So you need to take care of yourself first
00:31:00.540and foremost. I was listening to a podcast and I can't remember the lady's name, but she talked
00:31:05.720about uh only only giving from the saucer right so like your cup needs to not only be full but
00:31:18.480running over into the saucer and then you give from the saucer so um up until the point where
00:31:25.780you have enough insight in that saucer overflowing then you need to be in like radical self-care and
00:31:32.240receiving and if you're going into a job interview having yourself as like the be-all and end-all
00:31:38.880um stepping away from survival even though we're all living in survival like the world's a dumpster
00:31:45.440fire but if you can walk in with that empress energy of like I deserve everything that I receive
00:31:51.580right and also um i it has to be correct because the the card that i pulled i pulled knave of
00:32:03.200pentacles which is i feel like in this deck the knave is page and i my debt when i interpret uh
00:32:12.860i call them devotees and so the devotee of pentacles is adventure exploration curiosity
00:32:20.080it's um both both the the page and pentacles are rooted in earth energy so there is like this sense
00:32:29.500of grounding and i mean it's just delicious like you're pulling empress which is just like
00:32:35.480nurturing rooting and then nave of pentacles is curiosity in rooting and that just like open to
00:32:43.440all the possibilities and curious so if walk into this in curiosity and knowing that what is for you
00:32:53.760is coming to you and then just releasing the rest and I say cheers I can't wait to hear okay0.81
00:33:01.020alien I hope that helped that's amazing thank you guys fucking awesome
00:33:06.860yeah before we move on to deb zoe sonia do you have a favorite deck
00:33:13.320other than of course the missing witches deck of oracles everyone's new favorite
00:33:18.620i i just have so many but right now i will tell you that right now i'm doing a practice
00:33:27.440um that is i'm doing this novena thing um but i have been using the seasons of the witch
00:33:35.860decks. Um, they are for each, um, wheel. So this is the Litha Oracle. And so I start using them
00:33:46.260about a month before the season changes. So I started using this one like June 1st, and then
00:33:53.780I'll use it to like July 15th. And then I'll start using the Lufthansa one. Um, and I've been doing
00:33:59.140that since that one and they they have a deck for every one except they don't have spring equinox
00:34:06.820but i used like a flower one but i love this it's a whole series and i love it because it's
00:34:12.760different artists but it's julia um uh juliette diaz and lorraine anderson are the main ones and
00:34:20.820then they have different illustrators that come in and do different ones so i love that one yeah
00:34:25.680and that ties into zoe your your philosophy of like seasonal deck workings do you have like an
00:34:31.360all-time favorite deck that you always return to um you know what i i do i actually just pulled it
00:34:38.320out right before you said that it's one of my favorites i've like you so i have so many but
00:34:42.980this light seers to row i mean it is just like and then there's also like a tattoo to row deck
00:34:51.600that I love so much but I think it's at my house because half of them are at my house my apartment
00:34:56.600and so many of them are here but this Lightseers it's just I love the illustration it shuffles I
00:35:05.800love I'm also like a texture person so I like the way they feel yeah and um and I'll pull the other
00:35:12.200one there's an African there's an African tarot too so it's all like African royalty and it feels
00:35:19.980like velvet and it has gold in it i'll pull it it's up there so yeah i'll pull it in a minute
00:35:25.160thank you and of course the missing which is deck of oracles available on july 9th and available for
00:35:32.460pre-order now we're just gonna throw them up and roll around in them deb do you have a question
00:35:41.260for our panel of cartomancers i do have a question my question is what do i need right now
00:35:48.180that is my basic question what do i need right now i am a little bit lost in finishing the book
00:35:56.840and a little bit in the stage of i hate my life and finishing the book what do i need
00:36:03.100are you even writing a book if you don't hate your life at some point i mean i i feel like
00:36:08.760as i shuffle let me just say that you know i believe that hating your work is a part of the
00:36:14.280creative process every single artist creator that I have ever known um goes through that
00:36:23.480the roller coaster that we were talking about at the beginning of the conversation where
00:36:27.600you're like I'm a genius I know nothing oh my goodness I can't believe I wrote that
00:36:33.260from both sides like oh my god I can't believe I wrote that and oh my god I can't believe I
00:36:38.920wrote that so again I'm shuffling I'm shuffling um but just trust that like hating your work
00:36:46.020hating your life it's a part of the creative process and you just have to get through that
00:36:51.460swamp in order to get to that place on the other side whether it's gonna pull me to the other side
00:36:58.100because I do feel like I need some help right now can I are you getting ready to do yours because
00:37:03.620i just pulled one that i can't even believe i pulled it same but you go ahead sonia okay i just
00:37:10.480right okay i did this one from the litha deck that i just showed you it's horses look at this
00:37:17.200art it's so yummy and it says here unsure of how to break out of your cage spirit share strength
00:37:24.520through acts of liberation okay i'm gonna read you what it says horses are meant to be wild and free
00:37:29.560which is why they are such powerful creatures that are capable of running for long distances
00:37:34.380and over different terrain. It is not uncommon to hear tales of having to break a horse when
00:37:40.920attempting to domesticate a wild one. How sad it must be for a horse to go from roaming endless
00:37:46.360landscapes to being confined to a small box inside a barn. If a horse remains bound for long enough
00:37:53.320It may fail to see when the opportunity presents itself to run back into the wild.
00:37:59.960When the horse card gallops into your reading, it could be a sign that your spirit is broken
00:38:04.880and you have lost your sense of regality and strength.
00:38:09.120You may feel stuck, stagnant, bored, or stuck in a rut, unsure of how to break out of your
00:38:14.720cage to find more passion and excitement.
00:38:17.680Dig deep and reconnect with your sense of freedom.
00:38:20.040remove the shoulds and supposed to do's from your perspective and follow your heart and instincts
00:38:26.300the beauty about being free is that you can change your mind if you go one way and find that doesn't
00:38:32.720work simply shift directions and try something else never apologizing for not being caged
00:38:40.240oh my god so what did you pull for deb so i pulled terry tempest williams and it says flight
00:38:51.680so here we have another writer who's you know went through lots of different things
00:38:58.460um many women in her family suffering from cancer but she writes we need not lose hope we just need
00:39:07.160to locate where it dwells. She finds hope dwelling in the fragile and the feathered. Once upon a time
00:39:14.640when women were birds, so we got the horses, now we have the birds, right? There was a simple1.00
00:39:19.440understanding that to sing at dawn and to sing at dusk was to heal the world through joy. Heal with
00:39:26.820joy, take flight. And then who else shows up? Octavia Butler. I guess she was like, y'all call
00:39:31.620me here I am, honey. So we have two writers here, two guides. So perhaps, you know, taking a photo
00:39:39.760or when you get your missing witch's deck, put them sort of in front of you as your guide,
00:39:45.040right? Because, you know, here they are speaking to you to carry you through. Then we have the
00:39:49.720page of swords. Take it easy on yourself, right? But again, look, what's she doing? She's writing,
00:39:54.240right? And so, and swords is all about ideas. And what I feel like is maybe the ideas just aren't
00:40:01.000like coming through right now we got the ace of wands though so it's like you got that creative
00:40:06.260spark but you just you just got stuck a little bit so um just give yourself a break take another
00:40:13.060direction look at things from another way as sonia said and be patient with yourself
00:40:18.800thank you i promise listeners there are 52 cards in this deck 54 if you count um we added two
00:40:28.220blanks so that you can you add your own ancestors whether that's your grandma or your favorite0.96
00:40:34.460teacher or someone from history who inspires you but deb i pulled motherfucking tony morrison0.73
00:40:42.420i swear the deck is not all writers but the fact that three writers got pulled in answer to your0.65
00:40:50.180question i think speaks volumes i mean you guys got my three you got my two favorite writers
00:40:56.540octavia butler and tony morrison those are like tony morrison is my goddess she's like oh my god
00:41:03.340well um and again like terry tempest williams one of my favorite things about her was her honesty
00:41:11.340she just doesn't shy away from the the truth of the matter and maybe that's what we're trying to
00:41:19.580carve through all of these writers came up for you tonight to tell you just write just keep
00:41:28.340writing and if you need to sleep that's fine we all need to sleep you write from your saucer if
00:41:33.420you need to or you write from your cup just keep writing keep writing i hope that helped
00:41:39.800i'm gonna put to the side i can't believe that we got we got three three amazing
00:41:50.240writers witch writers and brilliant i think that bodes well for you deb and what you are
00:41:58.000about to produce i'm really excited holly we seem to be on a roll let's shuffle it up
00:42:33.280hopefully it's a tap and not a big bullhorn but what do my ancestors want me to know right now
00:42:39.440um the card that popped out while I was shuffling is Majin Gonzalez Whipler um she is
00:42:47.460she's still alive she's Puerto Rican she is um like has like a PhD you know she's very interested
00:42:57.480in in occult studies in magic um she studied santeria but she also like i say is like a phd
00:43:05.020who has lectured at some of the greatest universities in the world you know highly
00:43:10.520highly highly educated person um but one of my favorite quotes of hers is how infinite my
00:43:17.880possibilities and that's something that rings through her work that possibilities for you for
00:43:25.440her for for us are infinite and if you're and in fact the the word that we have attached to my
00:43:32.820jean gonzalez whipler is possibility so if your ancestors are working through my hands as i shuffle
00:43:40.640and a card pops out um then they want you to know how infinite your possibilities i guess the
00:43:49.260problem with that is that it doesn't really narrow it down like if you're looking for advice and the
00:43:53.880universe says the possibilities are infinite that doesn't really help but maybe it's reassuring to
00:44:00.540know that this whole universe is open to you that you can be a mystic and also an academic that you
00:44:08.540can do both of those things at once that you don't have to choose between paths that you can create
00:44:14.040a path that mixes everything that you want to do and everything that you want to be but your
00:44:20.300ancestors want you to know that your possibilities are infinite so I pulled um Anna Halperin
00:44:28.500um and so I'm going to read to you about Anna Anna Halperin watched her grandfather
00:44:35.600twirling in the temple she couldn't speak his language but they were connected look look look
00:44:43.480at look at great look at the grandparents coming out um and they were connected when she saw the
00:44:49.140ecstasy of his body in prayer. She revolutionized the world of dance. She created a dance that
00:44:56.440helped to catch a serial killer. I don't feel like I know this story and I need to go back.
00:45:03.640Dancers walked the trails where the killings occurred. They slept on the mountain with
00:45:11.040their heads together. A few days later, police received an anonymous tip that led to the capture
00:45:16.120of the trail side killer later Anna danced a dance encircled by her loved ones that sent her
00:45:23.540cancer into remission listen put it in their hands
00:45:28.840okay this card reminds us that when we meet monsters we can dance to build power in ourselves
00:45:38.420and bonds of safety and shared ecstasy and what came up for me as I was reading this was
00:45:43.760I, my, my husband's mother passed in April and they had a really complicated relationship. And
00:45:51.060she was a very, she was a deeply religious woman, but deeply judgmental to anyone who wasn't
00:45:59.760following her like evangelical like path. And I remember when she passed, she came to me
00:46:10.820And I wrote this poem that was just like, she knew, like, as soon as she crossed over, she remembered how we're all one and how there is no judgment and how that doesn't exist.
00:46:24.680and she was in grieving about it and and that made me think every one of our ancestors even
00:46:32.800the ones that are complicated or problematic like we can turn to them in the same way that
00:46:39.920you keep uh the h.p plebasky in the deck isn't that how you say her name and the the ones that
00:46:47.500are problematic like we're always going to have problematic but those ancestors because when i
00:46:52.800when they cross over they remember who they are they remember the long line of their soul
00:47:00.100and the love and that unification then we can call on them to help us as we're rooting into whatever
00:47:07.540we need support in right now so I feel like Anna's just and also go dance like dance dance
00:47:14.560with them like around you yes Holly we we know that you're a yoga teacher and obviously Anna
00:47:21.580Calprin's whole thrust was like the, the, the, the solution to the mind body dilemma and our
00:47:27.420connection to the psychic universe being movement and being embodied. And so I think that there's,
00:47:33.220there's maybe some connection there between, between yoga and dance for you that you can
00:47:37.900think about. Well, and also like, I, you know, I dance a lot for like just movement in my life.
00:47:44.140And then earlier this year I had to stop because I was having some heart issues. And then I just
00:47:48.800got the all clear that i am actually able to do my fucking movement again and so like mama's0.97
00:47:54.020dancing tomorrow three cheers for holly and regaining the ability to dance raise all ancestors0.97
00:48:03.220and bless your heart specifically that it is now recovered to the point where you can dance
00:48:09.600zoe did you pull a card for holly i did i did so it's so interesting so the first one i got was
00:48:15.000the new moon and cancer from the moonology deck and it says you and your loved ones are safe and
00:48:21.760I don't know so because it's the new moon and cancer we're about to go into cancer season
00:48:27.040so this makes me feel like some kind of ritual um on that new moon perhaps setting some intentions
00:48:34.200around health wholeness etc then I got this the ritual card from Starhawk so I was like okay what
00:48:39.580this is what we need. So yeah. So some kind of ritual for the new moon and perhaps it has to do
00:48:46.220with movement dance. And maybe it's like some kind of cute, I don't know, full moon releasing
00:48:52.520this week. And then a nice calling in, in the next couple of weeks for the new moon and cancer.
00:48:59.040I'm feeling specifically around emotions, deep seated emotions, resentment, blah, blah, blah,
00:49:03.660blah, blah, blah. Cause you know, that's, you know, cancers love that.
00:49:06.440did that help paulie amazing thank you amazing can i can i just add just one thing about the dance
00:49:15.140um i am a part of this community where we do movement and we we dance it's dance so like we
00:49:24.600put music on and we you can dance to it but also it's like just getting into what needs to move
00:49:33.340And even if that's your pinky finger and this, I know you're given the clear to dance, but
00:49:39.000some people that have, you know, their bodies don't feel good and they can't move and that
00:49:45.880and it's painful, just know that movement is dance.
00:49:49.960Even if it's just like moving your like slow motion, right?
00:50:00.220and and it's just paying attention to the body so I that that came up for me as I was like
00:50:07.980contemplating ritual and like what that could look like in the I don't know it just it got me excited
00:50:14.060yeah and Michelle jumped into the chat to remind us that Starhawk um one of her most famous books
00:50:20.380is called The Spiral Dance and so you really have like a whole system all telling you that
00:50:29.580the answer to you know what you need right now is dance and i love that for you holly i'm so happy
00:50:36.520for you that that was your reading rachel would you like our cartomancers to pull a card for you
00:50:45.160what's your question um so i am turning 50 a month from tomorrow and thank you i would like to
00:50:56.980be excited about it. I feel like the first portion of my life has been a challenge in many ways and
00:51:04.860that I'm having a really hard time currently because it's my dad's diagnosis. I was tied up
00:51:12.760in what was going on with him and since his passing, now all I'm doing is waiting for the
00:51:20.220results of the brain autopsy to find out if it was genetic. And that's making me super scared
00:51:27.680and anxious. I'm trying not to think about it all the time. And I don't want that to be the
00:51:31.360focus of my card poll. But I'm finding it really, really challenging to focus on anything good.
00:51:40.640And so I would like some hope for the future. That's what I would like for going into
00:51:48.280uh my second half century we're shuffling we're shuffling we're shuffling thank you
00:51:56.500and out pops hattie carthon now it's funny because when zoe and i met in person
00:52:08.360we went to the hattie carthon memorial community garden
00:52:13.320and what a beautiful day that was it was hot and it was gorgeous and there were so many people in
00:52:21.220the garden so Hattie Carthen um the the words on the card are grow roots but what she did was she
00:52:32.860basically reforested Bed-Stuy the neighborhood in Brooklyn Bedford-Stuyvesant and she put a crew
00:52:42.060of people together um who planted trees who planted trees in brooklyn and um the card says
00:52:52.040this card calls on you to make the radical choice to grow where you're planted own your right to
00:52:59.740deep roots and i think you know again like part of her story was that you know she she was quote
00:53:08.600unquote older she was not a young woman when she started this project um I relate her to like the
00:53:15.820Grey Panthers even you know this like team of women who refused to be set to the side just
00:53:23.480because they had reached the quote you know age of retirement that their usefulness had somehow1.00
00:53:28.620expired and I relate Hattie Carthin to that she didn't have land so all of Bed-Stuy became her0.91
00:53:38.580land you know she didn't have a farm so she planted trees in brooklyn and brought that
00:53:47.560that sense of rootedness to her community and i think that that's possible for you too
00:53:55.440i know maybe you're feeling a little waving in the wind but i think that's part of that is because
00:54:03.020you know the roots of your father are so deep in you that he is so much a part of you that it makes
00:54:10.140you feel like you might get blown away if a stiff gust of wind comes along but he is deeply deeply
00:54:17.780deeply rooted in you and those deep roots allow us to grow that's why we don't blow away when we
00:54:24.460have deep roots you know when our pollen can spread and a bit of weather doesn't mean anything
00:54:30.460if our roots are deep enough and i feel like you have cultivated deep roots like that and you may
00:54:36.280feel like you're just like swaying in the breeze but it's maybe because you're growing down
00:54:41.040downward into the ground instead of but sorry if you're listening i made like a big tree
00:54:49.880hand gesture i guess if you're listening at home and you can't see me but maybe now is the time to0.66
00:54:55.660like leaf the fuck out maybe now is the time to flower maybe you are rooted and you are rooted
00:55:03.780and you are rooted and now it's time to flower that's my interpretation of Hattie Carthon's0.94
00:55:10.980card as it relates to your question Sonia Zoe do you have ideas for Rachel
00:55:17.060I think so I see Sonia shaking her head so I got the star card and it's so funny because
00:55:25.260this deck is called the roots and wings deck and so I got the star card so we are we know the star
00:55:34.140is the light and in the in the tarot it's like the light at the end of the tunnel um specifically
00:55:39.960when there's like uh after an illness or something like that so so I love that um I would say continue
00:55:46.400to look to the stars continue to tap into your magic and tap into the coven um for that and then
00:55:54.720Emily got dreaming from the Missing Witches deck. Emily came, I, I, King, King, King Goware.
00:56:03.960I'm not sure if that's how you pronounce her name, but this woman was a painter. She's an
00:56:09.520indigenous woman and she became the most important artist in Australia in her eighties. So here you
00:56:15.760are starting to talk about going into your fifties and that resonates for me too. I have some of those
00:56:20.040saying like oh I wasted time blah blah blah but no Emily is here to say it's never too late okay
00:56:29.280it's never too late all right so for the lithodeck I pulled hydration which listen
00:56:39.140drink lots of water I mean I've lit I mean I'm not even going to read the message for that because
00:56:45.620it it speaks for itself stay hydrated um that just supports those roots and the leafing that's
00:56:53.580about to happen now i i don't know i just um i just needed to pull my mini queens tarot
00:57:00.740um deck my letty jane um rena camp it's an old deck of mine look at these eyeballs do you see
00:57:08.180them and it's this glorious black and white deck where it's all like androgynous and trans and
00:57:15.100listen three popped out at the same time are you ready yes hero fan lovers and the tower
00:57:25.960and now people get scared when tower comes out but I'm gonna tell you a story about the tower
00:57:31.500the tower is just the next step it is just and and the thing about the tower is
00:57:38.860the foundation even if you get knocked all the way down right it's because there was something
00:57:46.300wrong with the foundation and you got to build back up so it's always an opportunity even though
00:57:51.740it feels like like like apocalypse but you know and adrienne brown's one of my favorite humans
00:57:58.200and she always says we're all somebody's always living in apocalypse and and has and has thrived
00:58:04.080through it right so this shows me that you are entering into a new phase and there is some
00:58:10.200tear down that has to happen and that's always going to be true right but like especially in
00:58:16.020this like next iteration that you're stepping into lovers are a mirror right this isn't about0.98
00:58:22.560somebody else this is about you loving the fuck out of yourself
00:58:26.040and and and and taking that with you and carrying that mirror right and every time you feel like0.98
00:58:35.480something is blocking you from seeing yourself just like mindful self-compassion the fuck out0.99
00:58:45.320of that right this is the moment of suffering I'm not alone and I need to love myself love the fuck0.65
00:58:51.220out of myself through it okay and then hierophant is my favorite because that is this is my soul
00:58:56.340archetype you are your own guru you are you are your own like you don't need to listen to anybody
00:59:03.120else listen to yourself listen to your divine knowing listen to that pantheon of ancestors
00:59:11.280and divinities and deities and guardians and guides who are literally with you at all times
00:59:18.580making sure not making helping you make decisions but clearing the path so that you can listen to
00:59:26.380your deep knowing and move through it right it's you're just getting started like this is the best
00:59:33.440like you're an elder like we're I'm 47 I am like so excited I'm like I'm ready like this is my0.98
00:59:40.180Doña era right like just call me Doña Sonia and I will tell you all the things I know some shit0.88
00:59:47.520you know some shit yes okay Rachel did that help yes very much thank you I really appreciate that0.97
00:59:57.700all of you thank you thank you water your roots and the leaves will take care of themselves I0.99
01:00:03.820think Tannis how are you doing oh good how are you lovely ladies oh well happy to be here
01:00:13.220And at this summer solstice time, I mean, it's still light out where I am. It's bonkers. Going to bed when it's still light out is such trip. Do you have a question for our cartomancers?
01:00:30.820I do, I do. So my daughter, she's, you know, in that preteen, going on 11 era of her life, having issues with people, people are twisting her words against her, you know, the friend stuff.
01:00:50.680I want to step back and not be mom available, pull my earrings off and choose violence.
01:00:55.060You know, how is the best way that we're going to get through this?
01:01:00.820Well, I mean, for a struggling teenager, this is an interesting card to get.
01:01:10.900Now, the word that we've associated with Genesis is transgress.
01:01:18.000And transgression is like the thrust was Genesis passed on a couple of years ago.0.74
01:01:23.820The thrust of Jen's entire life was transgression.1.00
01:01:27.800and i think i mean jen wasn't comfortable in school you know a super super super smart person
01:01:36.840but they didn't like the rules they didn't like being beat up by what amounted to the british0.98
01:01:42.360version of frat boys um and they didn't give a fuck what you thought genesis did not give a0.99
01:01:51.860fuck about what you thought and because of that genesis invented a whole new well with cozy fanny0.99
01:01:58.7202d invented a whole new genre of music so i would maybe suggest to your daughter that if we can and0.99
01:02:06.360i know it's hard and jen suffered and all of us who do this will suffer you have to put those other
01:02:14.380people's voices to the side and it hurts and it makes you angry but if you have a vision0.98
01:02:22.040and you are focused on that vision then you can't allow those other voices who have no fucking0.87
01:02:29.420vision and so they're focused on you because you have a vision to dissuade you from like your0.68
01:02:36.040creative energy the thing about imagination and creativity is that it is outside the box
01:02:41.660And when you're in a place like high school, it doesn't pay to be outside of that box. But when you get out of a place like high school, and you enter a world of freedom that is open to your creativity, or find people whose vision is in line with yours, then you can actually change music history, in Jen's case, or I don't know what your daughter's into, but change whatever niche world that is that she's going into.
01:03:11.660so i say genesis says to remind your daughter like fuck what those boring ass people think0.99
01:03:20.040about your amazingness they're intimidated by you they don't understand you because you're1.00
01:03:25.820fucking rad and they can't handle it sorry not sorry period genesis peorich0.93
01:03:31.040love it so i wanna uh i pulled pixie pixie coleman smith okay which um i mean0.98
01:03:39.980just if there is a way to be in community with your kid in some creative way
01:03:51.420um be that creative place right be that that like pillow right for her um because you can't
01:04:02.240we can't do any we can't physically go in and change anybody else's thing right we can be
01:04:11.400the resting place the care place and then I also pulled two of cups and I'm going to read to you
01:04:17.820two of cups, my interpretation, because I think that it's, it can offer you a little, a little
01:04:25.700love. The cups are the suit where we practice the art of following our intuition. And the two is a
01:04:31.840mirror number. It offers us the opportunity to give the energy that we want to receive. Most often
01:04:37.580that means love for oneself, but it can also be for another being a practice, an idea, a value
01:04:42.980system, or really any opportunity in which connection can offer reflection and growth.
01:04:48.880Usually this can be very hard and require trust on your end. Do it anyway. What is waiting and
01:04:54.800offering your cup is a beautiful reflection of yourself in another's cup. And the love you will
01:05:00.000encounter in this exchange will be bountiful. My wise daughter, Fern, at age seven, and she's now
01:05:06.00011, called this the glued together card. Take some time to contemplate what you are glued to
01:05:12.760that is a powerful meditation. And then the spiral deeper for this, this is just a resource that I
01:05:21.000think may be supportive for both of you, is a book by twin sisters, Amelia and Emily Nagowski.
01:05:29.040They wrote this wonderful reflection of Two of Cups energy called Burnout, The Secret of Unlocking
01:05:35.700the stress cycle. And there's all these tips on how to manage stress. And if I have any recollection
01:05:43.800of middle school, mean girl drama, that stress cycle, like you are in fight, flight or freeze,
01:05:51.240right? And so if you can work with your child on creative ways to manage that stress,
01:05:58.260like breathing techniques, just being there, releasing, shaking, you know, like a possum when
01:06:05.720it gets, when it's being attacked, it, it goes and pretends to die. Right. And then once it feels
01:06:13.080safe, it literally shakes. And I know she may think that it's crazy to shake at 11 years old,
01:06:20.020But you can give her that, like you shake, shake it, literally shake the energy off of you so that you can keep moving and, and, and bring joy into your creativity and scream, right?
01:06:34.400Like, like that, that sounding is also, so just giving your, giving her what you need
01:06:59.840Obviously both of you have everything that you need.
01:07:03.080And so to me, it's like transmuting this energy, that energy, which feels like is what both of you all are talking about, finding creative ways to transmute that energy.
01:07:55.340hello hi after hearing how deb asked her question i was like that's what i should say
01:08:05.520what do i need to do what do i need right now um but i have nothing i'm not writing a book um
01:08:13.240uh i think my question has to do with feeling really lost and unmoored um and like i've had
01:08:22.200astrology readings where someone looked at my chart and said well you're just never going to
01:08:25.760have a normal relationship but it doesn't define like what it is or i've had akashic readings where
01:08:31.860they're like you just have to do something new without any explanation of what it is and i just
01:08:38.560if I'm always doing something that has no rules it feels really ungrounding and unmoored and
01:08:43.920unsupported um and so I'm just like so like what now okay so normally like if I'm doing a spread
01:08:53.360I do a spread but if I'm just like looking for like a message I just shuffle and whatever pops
01:08:59.680out is you know I'm not sure what's happening um I I'm I have left the door open for all kinds of
01:09:07.820answers to the question what is happening when you pull cards um i believe that it is possible
01:09:14.060that there is some you know universal spirit that is guiding the card to jump out of the deck at
01:09:20.100this time but two popped out um harriet tubman freedom and again like we were talking about
01:09:29.460with holly you know um people telling you that you should try something new and that all the
01:09:35.680possibilities and freedom is there for you is like okay great but like what what's the railroad
01:09:41.560you know I'm seeking freedom but I have freedom I have the freedom to choose what I need to figure
01:09:47.860out is what to choose um so maybe that's where Faith Ringgold comes in um the I don't know if
01:09:55.920I said this freedom is the word um that we've we've related to Harriet Tubman and the word
01:10:01.800that we've put with Faith Ringgold is shapeshift, which almost equally doesn't help you. You can
01:10:08.480change form, you know, and maybe, again, I don't know the details of your backstory,
01:10:17.400but what Faith Ringgold, and RIP Faith Ringgold actually died this year, and we were in mourning
01:10:26.480because what a voice what a powerful powerful voice there were many reasons that faith ringgold
01:10:34.720took on art in the way that she did um one was that her parents told her don't let nobody tell
01:10:45.960you what you can't do don't let nobody tell you what you can't do and she was only allowed to
01:10:52.980study art education because she was a woman um and so she studied art to the extent that she
01:11:02.220was able and then found that that was a little bit too eurocentric for her and so went after
01:11:09.240her formal education went and self-educated on african art did a series of of like african
01:11:17.040inspired masks what she's most famous for um are these pieces that are like uh they're painted
01:11:27.180but they're also quilted and embroidered like she took this sort of like elevated she could
01:11:34.120paint like picasso she did this one painting and the name of it escapes me but it's like so
01:11:38.820perfectly cubist um and it's called like picasso's studio or something like that and she basically
01:11:46.040like painted Picasso is this sort of empty figure and at the same time showing I can do this too
01:11:54.420I can paint like Picasso but I'm gonna value domesticity I'm gonna value the quilting
01:12:01.900techniques that my grandmother taught me and elevate them to that same level of what we
01:12:06.580consider Picasso to have done um so what is Faith Ringgold telling you I'm not sure
01:12:14.320But she definitely is saying that you can take all the tools that you have and even if you have like internalized capitalism or internalized misogyny or internalized homophobia, whatever it is, you can elevate those things that make you who you are, shapeshift them out of, you know, something for you to be ashamed of or depressed about.
01:12:44.320and elevate them to be the focus of your creativity or your life your domesticity your
01:12:52.040relationships i don't know freedom and shape-shifting so again the cards are like you
01:12:59.000do whatever you want you have the tools you have the vision and i also want to say that harriet
01:13:05.540tubman is often sort of cosmified as the north star heavily heavily heavily associated with the
01:13:16.220north star so if you do need a bit of perspective like you can really just look up at the sky
01:13:21.700say this is the same north star that harriet fucking tubman was looking at cool okay um
01:13:30.000i pulled stargazing what a segue um it takes a lot of courage to reach for the stars to expand0.76
01:13:41.260the self but it is possible and when i was reading about this it's really about uh just like leaning
01:13:47.260into your imagination so what do you want to what are you going to do you're going to use your
01:13:51.760imagination and you're going to imagine a whatever the fuck you need to imagine a whatever comes to0.96
01:13:59.360you because that's literally the thing like that's the spell human being like someone imagined0.99
01:14:06.360the world we're in this fucking dumpster fire somebody imagined this so we have the power0.84
01:14:13.900to imagine right something else and in doing that we literally set the conditions for it0.98
01:14:21.580I also pulled two of cups again but with my other deck look at this like it's very0.73
01:14:27.740very intimate love the fuck out of yourself so that's something else you can do get to it0.96
01:14:35.900get to it loving the fuck out of yourself and then Guaridevi um hugged trees after her um ancestor0.85
01:14:49.140um um rita died hugging trees in her country right and she actually though when she hugged the trees0.83
01:15:00.340she had her death kind of her martyrdom right as a as a history and they didn't kill her the way
01:15:11.340that they killed um rita who was trying to save a tree and they literally cut her in half right
01:15:17.640That was the history. So if you go and you read the Amrita Devi is also in the Missing Witches deck. And her story is in the 17th century or like a couple hundred years back. She was trying to save a tree. They killed her.
01:15:33.420But because that happened, when Amrita Devi went to save 2,500 trees in her hometown of
01:15:42.740northern India, she was able to collect and bring the people together to hug the trees
01:18:26.460i feel like a lot of us um ask similar questions in our lives let's see who's going to pop out for
01:18:35.200you here wow very interesting um the card that popped out from the missing witches deck of oracles
01:18:43.620is tituba um the word that we associate with tituba in this deck of cards is testify um
01:18:53.060If you don't know, Tituba was that sort of very famous, quote-unquote, Black Witch of Salem, was one of the first women to be persecuted under the Salem Witch Trials.
01:19:07.120And so I'm wondering how much of this weight that you're carrying, Hope, you've spoken out loud.
01:19:15.420have you just tried to carry it and hold it and thought maybe that it would go away or are you
01:19:26.820are you testifying um i i would also love for you to read i teach you about just as a
01:19:34.040just as an aside by marise conde because marise conde claims that she channeled the spirit of
01:19:41.580tituba in the writing of the book and there's so much great stuff in there that i personally like
01:19:47.040attribute to tituba even though it's marise conde writing in the voice of tituba but um she
01:19:57.800she asked like do you do you even know what a witch is you know when she was accused of witchcraft
01:20:05.300She says, do you even know what a witch is?
01:20:09.820I'm wondering if you even know what letting go would look like.
01:20:16.380I'm wondering if you even know what that witchcraft is.0.59
01:20:23.700I think that Tituba is telling you, or this card.
01:20:27.520Let's see what the card actually says.
01:20:32.200This card requires you to consider which testimonies shaping your life were made under duress, and how you can channel the truth.
01:20:47.140so what stories that you've been told about yourself were made because of somebody else's0.97
01:20:55.640shit and somebody else's reasons that just filtered down on you because of you know the0.96
01:21:01.840the politics of family the politics of trauma um so i would testify against it if i were to follow0.97
01:21:10.080the advice of this card i i would attempt to let some of it go and whether that's talk therapy0.93
01:21:15.820or just not fucking swallowing it when there's something right on your tongue that wants to come0.95
01:21:23.960out and you have the option of swallowing it or spitting it out i think you need to spit i think0.99
01:21:29.580you need to spit a bit more and fucking testify on your own behalf and in your own defense0.99
01:21:35.240i think that's what tituba wants you to know yeah so i have a very close relationship with tituba0.98
01:21:43.420from my past my production company is actually called to jibba productions so anytime she comes
01:21:49.560up i'm like hey girl so i got don't let your past hold you back
01:21:55.740well if it was just that easy zoe hope
01:22:01.700stop it right but that's what we got we got don't let don't don't let your past hold you back that's0.62
01:22:11.240what fell out. And then we got the five of pentacles, which literally is about feeling
01:22:16.220left out in the cold, feeling forgotten, feeling abandoned. And so I feel like that's what,
01:22:22.480you know, the South node, they like to talk about the South node as a coping mechanism.
01:22:26.820And we all know when we experience trauma, we fall back into the thing that's comfortable.
01:22:30.940We fall back into that South node. And so perhaps looking at your astrology and seeing where your
01:22:36.600north node is and and that north star energy again maybe um stepping towards that but we also
01:22:43.100have algaonis how's that pronounced amy but it says study here so this is taking me back to what
01:22:53.760amy's talking about and the last thing it says here is algaonis appears i think it's alganiche
01:23:01.600oh alganiche thank you alganiche appears to call you back to your studies and back to the moon
01:23:10.000and so again i think that's exactly what amy is saying right when we get that urge to fall
01:23:17.120back into this five of pentacles energy study where it came from who put that idea
01:23:23.160into you and testify against it is what i would say fascinating okay thank you so much
01:23:30.100okay uh so i was just pulling and four four of them jumped out and went under my table like i
01:23:39.120had to stand up and go get them and i don't know i don't know so i'm just going to tell you about
01:23:44.580them and then i'm gonna let you put put the pieces together so the first one that jumped out was lady
01:23:50.160frida harris um she wrote she actually was the illustrator of the thought deck um and what it
01:23:57.760i'm just going to read you the bottom section she triangulated between world views this card
01:24:04.380invites you to change your perspective study something brand new so that goes back i mean0.88
01:24:12.500you can't even make this shit up okay um alter your trajectory or velocity notice where lines0.93
01:24:21.560converge i don't know maybe maybe the thought do you have if you don't have the thought deck0.99
01:24:27.380you may want to go check it out you don't have to buy it you can just go to one of those stores
01:24:32.000where they have the samples and just look at them i mean i just like doing that like because i don't
01:24:36.860okay um the next thing the next person that jumped out was ten hinan um hers was about it's called
01:24:46.860remember and she apparently was a um temazite warrior queen who saved her people from starvation
01:24:57.340by finding the grain stored in anthills and people thought that she wasn't real the colonizers thought
01:25:07.080that she was a fake person that they had just made up like a legend that her people made up
01:25:11.580until they found her body buried in a tomb between these two dry riverbed valleys and she
01:25:21.860taught her people poetry and um this this alphabet this ancient language alphabet
01:25:32.220and her tomb was 1500 years old um and so her this card ties you to mothers beyond memory
01:25:42.480um the next one that jumped out is the milisei um which were these group of women
01:25:49.780who kept the bees and danced for the bees in um the roman empire or maybe they were yeah they were
01:25:58.700minoan anyway they were ancient they were the ancient european beekeeping women um this card
01:26:06.880invites you into a sacred dancing timeless community of reverence for the more than human
01:26:13.600world and I will end with my favorite and my personal deity uh lady ancestor Hildegard von
01:26:24.000Benin um this one feels the most connected to what where you are right now because Hildegard
01:26:32.520was a nun in the 12th century who lived with chronic illness and so she had anxiety
